The Royal Palace in Nuku'alofa is the official residence of the King and Queen of Tonga and the Royal Family. It is a popular tourist destination and is the one place that every visitor to Tonga visits for photo opps and to experience a piece of our Island Kingdomʻs history. The Lodge is coveniently located opposite the Royal Palace and our guests will surely not miss the opportunity to enjoy the view of the Palace during their stay. Throughout the year, it is common to observe traditional ceremonies being held at the Royal Palace and adjacent grounds, such as "Pangai Lahi", and our guests can watch and enjoy the festivities from the comfort of Lodge.
The Centenary Church is a landmark in Tonga's history and is the venue for all major occassions of significance - the latest being the Coronation of King George VI on 4 July 2015. Tonga is unique in that Sunday is observed as a holy day - all businesses, with exception of a few to cater for tourists, are closed and a majority of the population of Tonga attend church services. It is a day of worship and rest to remind us of christian values. We encourage our guests to attend the Sunday service at the Centenary Church, not only to experience our day of worship, but also to enjoy the local choirs' amazing singing prowesses!
